61. மடி இன்மை
குடியென்னும் குன்றா விளக்கம் மடியென்னும்
மாசூர மாய்ந்து கெடும். 601
சோம்பல் என்கிற மாசு படியப் படிய குடும்பம்
என்கிற மங்காவிளக்கு மங்கி அணைந்து விடும்.
Kural-601
The quenchless lamp of offspring decay and perish
While the dust of Sloth form on it hard.
The lineage which is called as inextinguishable
Light declines gradually and dies;
When sloth which is called as dust if add much
on and on to it.
மடியை மடியா ஒழுகல் குடியைக்
குடியாக வேண்டு பவர். 602
தன் குலத்தை மேலும் உயர்த்த விரும்புபவர் சோம்பலை
அறவே ஒழிக்க வேண்டும்.
Kural-602
Should treat the laziness as only the laziness;
They who wish their race to be good race.
If anybody who wished to keep their lineage in
Which they are desended, as good must consider
with great effort the sluggishness as only the sluggishness
without giving room for it.
மடிமடிக் கொண்டொழுகும் பேதை பிறந்த
குடிமடியும் தன்னினும் முந்து. 603
ஒருவரை அழிக்கும் தன்மையுடையது சோம்பேறித்தனம்.
அதைக் கைகொண்டு நடக்கும் அறிவில்லாதவன்
பிறந்த குடும்பம் அவன் மடிவதற்குள் அழிந்துவிடும்.
Kural-603
The foolish drone who comports sluggish
Shall ruine soon but his race.
If a man who comports indolently which is to be shunned;
His race will be perished before he perish.
குடிமடிந்து குற்றம் பெருகும் மடிமடிந்து
மாண்ட உஞற்றி லவர்க்கு. 604
விடா முயற்சி செய்யாமல் சோம்பலில் மூழ்கி
இருப்பவர்களின் குடும்பம் பெருமை தேய குற்றங்கள்
அதிகரிக்கும்.
Kural-604
The greatness perishes and blame improves
For the drone's house, if he keeps indolence.
For the lazy man's lineage, if he maintains
sluggishness, in him the eminence will be spoiled
and defame be improved.
நெடுநீர் மறவி மடிதுயில் நான்கும்
கெடுநீரார் காமக் கலன். 605
காலத்தை நீட்டித்தல், மறதி, சோம்பல்,
அளவுக்கு மீறிய தூக்கம் ஆகிய இந்நான்கும்
கெடுகின்ற விதியுடையோர் விரும்பி ஏறும் கப்பலாகும்.
Kural-605
Delay, sloth, obliovion and sleep are the four
Ships wished by men who are about to perish.
Whiling away of time, indolence, forgetfulness
and sleeping are the four vessels liked by indiscreet
men who are to perish.
படியுடையார் பற்றமைந்தக் கண்ணும் மடியுடையார்
மாண்பயன் எய்தல் அரிது. 606
நாடாளும் தலைவருடைய நட்பு வந்து சேர்ந்தாலும்
சோம்பேறிகள் சிறந்த பயனை அடைவது அரிது.
Kural-606
Though possess abundant opulance, the indolent
Man cannot get any great benefit.
Even if owned all sorts of opulence plentifully;
The idle men are not able to experience any
Good by them.
இடிபுரிந்து எள்ளுஞ்சொல் கேட்பர் மடிபுரிந்து
மாண்ட உஞற்றி லவர். 607
சிறந்த முயற்சி செய்யாது சோம்பேறியாயிருப்பவர்
பிறர் இடித்துக் கூறி இகழ்ந்து பேசும் நிலைக்கு
ஆளாவர்.
Kural-607
Men,desirous to indolence but the endeavour
Will hear the almonitions and derision there.
The persons who wish for idleness and do not
attempt to be deligent will have to hear from
the folk, the reproof and mockery.
மடிமை குடிமைக்கண் தங்கின்தன் ஒன்னார்க்கு
அடிமை புகுத்திவிடும். 608
நல்ல குடும்பத்தில் பிறந்தவனிடத்தில் சோம்பல்
நிரந்தரமாய் குடி கொண்டால் அவன் பகைவருக்கு
எளிதில் அடிமையாவான்.
Kural-608
If idleness is found in a high-bred man,
It will make him yield to his hateful men.
If a noble man is found to be indolent
It will make him subdued to his enemies.
குடியாண்மை யுள்வந்த குற்றம் ஒருவன்
மடியாண்மை மாற்றக் கெடும். 609
சோம்பேறித்தனத்தை ஒழித்தவனின் குடும்பத்திலும்,
அவனிடமும் இருந்த குற்றங்கள் ஒவ்வொன்றாய்
அழிந்து விடும்.
Kural-609
If one checks his indolence the fault of his valour
And of his house will be passed over.
If a person is able to dispel the idleness in him,
the badness in his race and his valour will be
removed.
மடியிலா மன்னவன் எய்தும் அடியளந்தான்
தாஅய தெல்லாம் ஒருங்கு. 610
திருமால் ஒருபாதத்தால் அளந்த உலகமனத்தையும்
சோம்பல் இல்லாத அரசன் முயற்சி செய்தால்
ஆளமுடியும்.
Kural-610
The slothless king can get the hole space
Which was once trodden by dwarf god, amasse.
The king who is not indolence will be able to rule
over the total world; which was once measured and
amassed by Lord Vishnu while he incarnated as a
dwarf one.

அருமை உடைத்தென்று அசாவாமை வேண்டும்
பெருமை முயற்சி தரும். 611
இந்தச் செயலைச் செய்வது மிகவும் கடினம் என்று
சோர்வுறாமல் முயற்சி செய்தால் செய்கை நிறைவேறியதும்
புகழ் கிடைக்கும்.
Kural-611
Should not loose spirit saying 'it is hard' ;
Yields one's effort greatness which is good.
One must not give up courage thinking the
Work begun to be hard to carry out, out of
Meanness in him ; the endeavour which is
adopted for carrying out a work gives good
eminence.
விளைக்கண் வினைகெடல் ஓம்பல் வினைக்குறை
தீர்ந்தாரின் தீர்ந்தன்று உலகு. 612
ஒரு தொழிலைத் தொடங்கிப் பாதியில் விட்டவரை
உலகம் ஏளனமாய்ப் பேசும். அதனால் நிதானமாய்த்தான்
முடியும் என்றாலும் முயற்சி செய்வதை நிறுத்தக்கூடாது.
Kural--612
Quit the sloth in fulfilling the work begun;
Him the peoplequit Who his work quit.
The people in the world drop one when he
Quits his work due to his sloth; So should
relinquish his sloth in connection with the
work he has begun.
தாளாண்மை என்னுந் தகைமைக்கண் தங்கிற்றே
வேளாண்மை என்னுஞ் செருக்கு. 613
முயற்சியை நிறுத்தாதவனாலேயே பிறருக்கு
உதவமுடியும்.
Kural-613
The bounteousness which is said as greatness
Vests only in the efforts that's taken.
The liberality which is otherwise called as
Eminence lies only in the attempt which is
one had taken to carry out the work.
தாளாண்மை இல்லாதான் வேளாண்மை பேடிகை
வாளாண்மை போலக் கெடும். 614
முயற்சியைக் கைவிட்டவன் உதவி செய்யும்
குணத்தைக் கொண்டிருந்தால், அது பேடி ஒருவன்
கையில் வாள் எடுத்து ஆள்வதற்கொப்பானது.
அதனால் நாடு எதிரிகள் வசமாகும். முன்னது
குடும்பம் வறுமையில் விழும்.
Kural-614
One's beneficialness who needs diligence
Is inept like sword in the eunuch's hand.
A person's benefication when ha lacks of
Fervency resembles to the sword held by a
Eunuch which is not useful. Figure of speech
Smile.
இன்பம் விழையான் வினைவிழைவான் தன்கேளிர்
துன்பம் துடைத்தூன்றும் தூண். 615
சுகங்களை ஒதுக்கி, எடுத்துக் கொண்ட செயலில்
முழு முயற்சியோடு ஈடுபடுகின்றவன் தன் சுற்றத்தவரின்
இன்னல் போக்கி தூணைப்போல் தாங்குவான்.
Kural-615
One, not desires joys but work only desires;
Removes his kin's sorrows and as prop stands.
One who does not like his own enjoyment but
Likes only to serve for his own people removes
the sorrows of his kith and kin which are the
Burdens to him and supports them as a pillar.
முயற்சி திருவினை யாக்கும் முயற்றின்மை
இன்மை புகுத்தி விடும். 616
முயற்சியும் சுறுசுறுப்பும் ஒருவனுக்குச் செல்வத்தைத்
தரும். முயற்சியின்றிச் சோம்பி இருந்தால் அது
வறுமையைத்தான் கொடுக்கும்.
Kural-616
Endeavour elevates the state of afflunce;
Indolence only causes to enter into the indigence.
The attempt of a king improves his opulence, but
his negligence leads only to poverty.
மடியுளாள் மாமுகடி என்ப மடியிலான்
தாளுளாள் தாமரையி னாள். 617
சோம்பேறித்தனம் இருக்குமிடத்தில் கரிய
மூதேவி வாழ்கிறாள். தொழிலில் அக்கறையுடன்
முயற்சி செய்பவரிடத்தில் திருமகள் வாழ்கின்றாள்.
Kural-617
Goddess of misfortune lives with idle man;
Say,Goddess of fortune lives with active man.
Goddess of misfortune who is dark will always
Live with indolent men and the experienced men
say that the Goddess of fortune vests in the active
men who attempt to work for ever.
பொறியின்மை யார்க்கும் பழியன்று அறிவறிந்து
ஆள்வினை இன்மை பழி. 618
தலைவிதி வசத்தால் பெரிய லாபம் கிடைக்காதிருப்பது
பழியாகாது. அறிய வேண்டியதை அறிந்து முயற்சி
செய்யாமலிருந்தால் அது பழிக்கிடமாகும்.
Kural-618
Lack of good fate is not , for any, a defect;
Lack of lore and effort is only the defect.
Want of good fate is not at all a defect for
Any one; but want of education and want of
Effort in man is only considered as a defect.

தெய்வத்தான் ஆகாது எனினும் முயற்சிதன்
மெய்வருத்தக் கூலி தரும். 619
ஊழ்வினைப் பயனால் ஒரு செயல் பூர்த்தியாகாமல்
போனாலும் முயற்சி நாம் பாடுபட்டதற் கொப்ப
பலனைத்தரும்.
Kural-619
Even though not possible for deity, the corporal
Toil which endeavoured give wages , required.
Even it is impossible for deity to afford and fruit
for the labour he did; one's earnest labour for
which he attempted will certainly give the wages
according to the toil he excerted in the business
he carried out.
ஊழையும் உப்பக்கம் காண்பர் உலைவின்றித்
தாழாது உஞற்று பவர். 620
சோர்வின்றி நேரம் தாழ்த்தாமல் முயற்சி செய்பவர்
செயலுக்கு இடஞ்சலாக வரும் பழவினையையும்
தோற்கடிப்பார்.
Kural-620
He sets aside the fate who ceasefully endeavours
And also carries out without weariness.
One who is ardent in his work and attempts to
Carry it out without interruption and lastitude
despises even his fate and fullfills his work.

இடுக்கண் வருங்கால் நகுக அதனை
அடுத்தூர்வது அஃதொப்பது இல். 621
துன்பம் வருகையில் கலங்காது சிரித்தபடி அதைச்
சமாளிக்கும் முயற்சியை மேற்கொள்ள வேண்டும்.
துன்பத்தை ஜெயிக்கும் வழி அதைப் போல் வேறு
கிடையாது.
Kural-621
When suffering occurs laugh at it; there is
Nothing else than it to desist and surmount.
Whenever a suffering occurs do not be confused
But laugh for it.No other device there is to obstruct
And exel it.
வெள்ளத் தனைய இடும்பை அறிவுடையான்
உள்ளத்தின் உள்ளக் கெடும். 622
அறிவுள்ளவர் தன் மனத்தில் துன்பத்தை எப்படிச்
சமாளிக்கலாம் என்று நினைக்கும் போதே கரையை
உடைத்துக் கொண்டு வரும் வெள்ளம் போன்ற
துன்பமும் அழியும்.
Kural-622
Wise men divert mind and destroy the sorrows
Whenever they are occured as equal as floods.
The learned men divert their mind in otherwords
And neglect it , so that it would be alleyed on his
own accord whenever they are happened dreadfully
like inundation of flood.
இடும்பைக்கு இடும்பை படுப்பர் இடும்பைக்கு
இடும்பை படாஅ தவர். 623
துன்பங்களைக் கண்டு கலங்காதவர் துன்பத்துக்கே
துன்பம் செய்தவராகி அதை வென்றுவிடுவர்.
Kural-623
They but cause suffering for the occured suffering;
Who don't mind for suffering while occured to them, suffering.
The persons who do not care for suffering whenever
Occured to them, but create obstruction for such
Sufferings whichsoever occured to them and afflict.
மடுத்தவா யெல்லாம் பகடன்னான் உற்ற
இடுக்கண் இடர்ப்பாடு உடைந்து. 624
தடைபட்ட இடமெல்லாம் வண்டியை உந்துவிசையுடன்
இழுத்துச் செல்லும் காளை போல், இடைவிடாமல்
முயற்சி செய்பவன் அனுபவிக்கும் துன்பம்தான் நிஜமான
துன்பம்.
Kural-624
Like the buffalo hauls whenever finds obstacles
All the sufferings occured will be ever troubled.
Just like the buffalo drags the cart with violent
force whenever it finds obstruction on the way,
The individual who undertakes to carry out a work
will despise and sucessfully carry out his performance
without disgust even though the sufferings happened
during that time.
அடுக்கி வரினும் அழிவிலான் உற்ற
இடுக்கண் இடுக்கட் படும். 625
அடுக்கடுக்காய் இன்னல் ஏற்படினும் கவலைப்
படாமல் அதை நீக்க முயற்சி செய்பவனை
அடைந்த துன்பமே நமக்கு இங்கே மதிப்பில்லை
என்று வெறுத்து ஓடிவிடும்.
Kural-625
A pile of sorrows for gallant man
Even though pass will have scorn.
Even if the sufferings for a courageous man occur one by one;
Will be despised by him and he will overcome successfully.
அற்றேமென்று அல்லற் படுபவோ பெற்றேமென்று
ஓம்புதல் தேற்றா தவர். 626
செல்வந்தனாய் இருக்கிறோம் என்று மகிழ்ந்து அதைக் கண்ணும்
கருத்துமாய் பெருக்கும் வழிகளில் முயலவேண்டும். இழந்த பிறகு
தரித்திரம் வந்ததே என்று அழுது என்ன பயன்?
Kural-626
Will they lament thinking ' We 've lost'
Who didn't covet thinking 'we 've got'.
The man who did not covet and foster their
Opulence even while they had in abundance;
Will they be grieved for the loss of their wealth
Even while they lose it for good purposes.
இலக்கம் உடம்பிடுக்கைக் கென்று கலக்கத்தைக்
கையாறாக் கொள்ளாதாம் மேல். 627
உடம்பு வியாதிக்கு இலக்கானது. இதைப் புரிந்து கொண்ட
மேலோர் துன்பம் வரும் காலத்தில் கவலைப் படுவதை
ஒழுக்க நெறியாகக் கொள்ளமாட்டார்.
Kural-627
The wise who do think their bodies are to suffer,
For sufferings , won't funk when they have to suffer.
The men of wisdom who suppose that their bodies
in the four stages are actually about to suffer the
Distresses and forbear will not fear taking the
Sufferings into account even when they are indispensably
had to under go them.

துன்பம் வரும்போது கலங்குவதில்லை.
Kural-628
One who sees evil as the one, natural,
Will not grieve for the evil he suffer.
A wise man who treats his sufferings to be
Natural will not suffer for the afflictions
while they ever suffer.
இன்பத்துள் இன்பம் விழையாதான் துன்பத்துள்
துன்பம் உறுதல் இலன். 629
இன்பம் வந்தபோது ஆனந்தக் கூத்தாடாமல் இயற்கையாய்
அதை அனுபவிப்பவர் துன்பம் வந்தபோதும் இடிந்து
சரிவதில்லை.
Kural-629
One who will not be happy for joy occured,
will not unhappy,be , while sorrows incurred.
A person who does not enjoy for the joy occured
on his part will not be afflicted by sorrows ever
they incurred to them.
இன்னாமை இன்பம் எனக்கொளின் ஆகுந்தன்
ஒன்னார் விழையுஞ் சிறப்பு. 630
துன்பத்தையும் இயற்கை என்றெண்ணி சாதாரணமாக
ஏற்று நடப்பவருக்குப் பகைவரும் போற்றும் சிறப்பு
உண்டாகும்.
Kural-630
If one treats Evil as joy,
Will be liked by even his oponents.
If a person feels it to be happy whenever
he happens to face unhappiness during he
carries out some work ,he will get such a
loftiness so as to be revered even by his rivals.

முயற்சியைக் கைவிட்டவன் உதவி செய்யும்
குணத்தைக் கொண்டிருந்தால், அது பேடி ஒருவன்
கையில் வாள் எடுத்து ஆள்வதற்கொப்பானது.
அதனால் நாடு எதிரிகள் வசமாகும். முன்னது
குடும்பம் வறுமையில் விழும்.
Kural-614
One's beneficialness who needs diligence
Is inept like sword in the eunuch's hand.
A person's benefication when ha lacks of
Fervency resembles to the sword held by a
Eunuch which is not useful. Figure of speech
Smile.
இன்பம் விழையான் வினைவிழைவான் தன்கேளிர்
துன்பம் துடைத்தூன்றும் தூண். 615
சுகங்களை ஒதுக்கி, எடுத்துக் கொண்ட செயலில்
முழு முயற்சியோடு ஈடுபடுகின்றவன் தன் சுற்றத்தவரின்
இன்னல் போக்கி தூணைப்போல் தாங்குவான்.
Kural-615
One, not desires joys but work only desires;
Removes his kin's sorrows and as prop stands.
One who does not like his own enjoyment but
Likes only to serve for his own people removes
the sorrows of his kith and kin which are the
Burdens to him and supports them as a pillar.
முயற்சி திருவினை யாக்கும் முயற்றின்மை
இன்மை புகுத்தி விடும். 616
முயற்சியும் சுறுசுறுப்பும் ஒருவனுக்குச் செல்வத்தைத்
தரும். முயற்சியின்றிச் சோம்பி இருந்தால் அது
வறுமையைத்தான் கொடுக்கும்.
Kural-616
Endeavour elevates the state of afflunce;
Indolence only causes to enter into the indigence.
The attempt of a king improves his opulence, but
his negligence leads only to poverty.
மடியுளாள் மாமுகடி என்ப மடியிலான்
தாளுளாள் தாமரையி னாள். 617
சோம்பேறித்தனம் இருக்குமிடத்தில் கரிய
மூதேவி வாழ்கிறாள். தொழிலில் அக்கறையுடன்
முயற்சி செய்பவரிடத்தில் திருமகள் வாழ்கின்றாள்.
Kural-617
Goddess of misfortune lives with idle man;
Say,Goddess of fortune lives with active man.
Goddess of misfortune who is dark will always
Live with indolent men and the experienced men
say that the Goddess of fortune vests in the active
men who attempt to work for ever.
பொறியின்மை யார்க்கும் பழியன்று அறிவறிந்து
ஆள்வினை இன்மை பழி. 618
தலைவிதி வசத்தால் பெரிய லாபம் கிடைக்காதிருப்பது
பழியாகாது. அறிய வேண்டியதை அறிந்து முயற்சி
செய்யாமலிருந்தால் அது பழிக்கிடமாகும்.
Kural-618
Lack of good fate is not , for any, a defect;
Lack of lore and effort is only the defect.
Want of good fate is not at all a defect for
Any one; but want of education and want of
Effort in man is only considered as a defect.

62. POSSESSION OF ENDEAVOUR
தெய்வத்தான் ஆகாது எனினும் முயற்சிதன்
மெய்வருத்தக் கூலி தரும். 619
ஊழ்வினைப் பயனால் ஒரு செயல் பூர்த்தியாகாமல்
போனாலும் முயற்சி நாம் பாடுபட்டதற் கொப்ப
பலனைத்தரும்.
Kural-619
Even though not possible for deity, the corporal
Toil which endeavoured give wages , required.
Even it is impossible for deity to afford and fruit
for the labour he did; one's earnest labour for
which he attempted will certainly give the wages
according to the toil he excerted in the business
he carried out.
ஊழையும் உப்பக்கம் காண்பர் உலைவின்றித்
தாழாது உஞற்று பவர். 620
சோர்வின்றி நேரம் தாழ்த்தாமல் முயற்சி செய்பவர்
செயலுக்கு இடஞ்சலாக வரும் பழவினையையும்
தோற்கடிப்பார்.
Kural-620
He sets aside the fate who ceasefully endeavours
And also carries out without weariness.
One who is ardent in his work and attempts to
Carry it out without interruption and lastitude
despises even his fate and fullfills his work.

63. FORBERANCE OF MISERY
இடுக்கண் வருங்கால் நகுக அதனை
அடுத்தூர்வது அஃதொப்பது இல். 621
துன்பம் வருகையில் கலங்காது சிரித்தபடி அதைச்
சமாளிக்கும் முயற்சியை மேற்கொள்ள வேண்டும்.
துன்பத்தை ஜெயிக்கும் வழி அதைப் போல் வேறு
கிடையாது.
Kural-621
When suffering occurs laugh at it; there is
Nothing else than it to desist and surmount.
Whenever a suffering occurs do not be confused
But laugh for it.No other device there is to obstruct
And exel it.
வெள்ளத் தனைய இடும்பை அறிவுடையான்
உள்ளத்தின் உள்ளக் கெடும். 622
அறிவுள்ளவர் தன் மனத்தில் துன்பத்தை எப்படிச்
சமாளிக்கலாம் என்று நினைக்கும் போதே கரையை
உடைத்துக் கொண்டு வரும் வெள்ளம் போன்ற
துன்பமும் அழியும்.
Kural-622
Wise men divert mind and destroy the sorrows
Whenever they are occured as equal as floods.
The learned men divert their mind in otherwords
And neglect it , so that it would be alleyed on his
own accord whenever they are happened dreadfully
like inundation of flood.
இடும்பைக்கு இடும்பை படுப்பர் இடும்பைக்கு
இடும்பை படாஅ தவர். 623
துன்பங்களைக் கண்டு கலங்காதவர் துன்பத்துக்கே
துன்பம் செய்தவராகி அதை வென்றுவிடுவர்.
Kural-623
They but cause suffering for the occured suffering;
Who don't mind for suffering while occured to them, suffering.
The persons who do not care for suffering whenever
Occured to them, but create obstruction for such
Sufferings whichsoever occured to them and afflict.
மடுத்தவா யெல்லாம் பகடன்னான் உற்ற
இடுக்கண் இடர்ப்பாடு உடைந்து. 624
தடைபட்ட இடமெல்லாம் வண்டியை உந்துவிசையுடன்
இழுத்துச் செல்லும் காளை போல், இடைவிடாமல்
முயற்சி செய்பவன் அனுபவிக்கும் துன்பம்தான் நிஜமான
துன்பம்.
Kural-624
Like the buffalo hauls whenever finds obstacles
All the sufferings occured will be ever troubled.
Just like the buffalo drags the cart with violent
force whenever it finds obstruction on the way,
The individual who undertakes to carry out a work
will despise and sucessfully carry out his performance
without disgust even though the sufferings happened
during that time.
அடுக்கி வரினும் அழிவிலான் உற்ற
இடுக்கண் இடுக்கட் படும். 625
அடுக்கடுக்காய் இன்னல் ஏற்படினும் கவலைப்
படாமல் அதை நீக்க முயற்சி செய்பவனை
அடைந்த துன்பமே நமக்கு இங்கே மதிப்பில்லை
என்று வெறுத்து ஓடிவிடும்.
Kural-625
A pile of sorrows for gallant man
Even though pass will have scorn.
Even if the sufferings for a courageous man occur one by one;
Will be despised by him and he will overcome successfully.
அற்றேமென்று அல்லற் படுபவோ பெற்றேமென்று
ஓம்புதல் தேற்றா தவர். 626
செல்வந்தனாய் இருக்கிறோம் என்று மகிழ்ந்து அதைக் கண்ணும்
கருத்துமாய் பெருக்கும் வழிகளில் முயலவேண்டும். இழந்த பிறகு
தரித்திரம் வந்ததே என்று அழுது என்ன பயன்?
Kural-626
Will they lament thinking ' We 've lost'
Who didn't covet thinking 'we 've got'.
The man who did not covet and foster their
Opulence even while they had in abundance;
Will they be grieved for the loss of their wealth
Even while they lose it for good purposes.
இலக்கம் உடம்பிடுக்கைக் கென்று கலக்கத்தைக்
கையாறாக் கொள்ளாதாம் மேல். 627
உடம்பு வியாதிக்கு இலக்கானது. இதைப் புரிந்து கொண்ட
மேலோர் துன்பம் வரும் காலத்தில் கவலைப் படுவதை
ஒழுக்க நெறியாகக் கொள்ளமாட்டார்.
Kural-627
The wise who do think their bodies are to suffer,
For sufferings , won't funk when they have to suffer.
The men of wisdom who suppose that their bodies
in the four stages are actually about to suffer the
Distresses and forbear will not fear taking the
Sufferings into account even when they are indispensably
had to under go them.

இன்பம் விழையான் இடும்பை இயல்பென்பான்
துன்பம் உறுதல் இலன். 628
சுகத்தையும், துக்கத்தையும் சமமாக ஏற்று நடப்பவர்
துன்பம் வரும்போது கலங்குவதில்லை.
Kural-628
One who sees evil as the one, natural,
Will not grieve for the evil he suffer.
A wise man who treats his sufferings to be
Natural will not suffer for the afflictions
while they ever suffer.
இன்பத்துள் இன்பம் விழையாதான் துன்பத்துள்
துன்பம் உறுதல் இலன். 629
இன்பம் வந்தபோது ஆனந்தக் கூத்தாடாமல் இயற்கையாய்
அதை அனுபவிப்பவர் துன்பம் வந்தபோதும் இடிந்து
சரிவதில்லை.
Kural-629
One who will not be happy for joy occured,
will not unhappy,be , while sorrows incurred.
A person who does not enjoy for the joy occured
on his part will not be afflicted by sorrows ever
they incurred to them.
இன்னாமை இன்பம் எனக்கொளின் ஆகுந்தன்
ஒன்னார் விழையுஞ் சிறப்பு. 630
துன்பத்தையும் இயற்கை என்றெண்ணி சாதாரணமாக
ஏற்று நடப்பவருக்குப் பகைவரும் போற்றும் சிறப்பு
உண்டாகும்.
Kural-630
If one treats Evil as joy,
Will be liked by even his oponents.
If a person feels it to be happy whenever
he happens to face unhappiness during he
carries out some work ,he will get such a
loftiness so as to be revered even by his rivals.
